Sophie recently started swim lessons. She goes to the local YMCA on Saturday mornings. At the first lesson she was a little nervous and hung on to Dave, but since then she’s been a little fish. She really loves being in the water and kicks and splashes around.
Sophie’s First Regatta
This past weekend we did a regatta from Avalon to Cape May. Kathy and the Daves did the actual sailing, while Sophie and I did more of the lounging and taking in the sights. All in all, everyone had a great time.
Spoon Please
Sophie is starting to get the hang of feeding herself with a spoon. The food doesn’t always make it successfully into her mouth – but she’s getting there. Which frees up our hands to do other things. Ah… independence (sort of).

Visit to Va
This weekend Sophie and I took a quick trip down to Va. We flew in on Friday and out on Sunday and in between got to visit with family and friends. Mom and dad set up a little pool in the backyard, and Sophie had a blast splashing around in it (in the nude because I forgot her bathing suit, oops).
Please Touch Museum
This weekend I took Sophie to the Please Touch Museum with Erin and her daughter Vivian and Suzy and her son Adam. As always, she had a blast. We also discovered that the LOVES the carousel, so much that she cried and cried when she had to get off. Next time I guess we’ll get tickets for a few rides.
Sundays
This is what our kitchen looks like on Sunday. We put in a good few hours of cooking and then we’re set for the week.
15 Month Check-up
We took Sophie in for her 15 month check-up last week. She’s doing great – 31.24 inches tall, 25lbs 8ozs. She’s still in the 75th percentile for height and weight.
I’m also happy to report that she’s added some words to her repertoire. We’ve now got “shoe,” “uh-oh” (which she says a lot), “mommy,” “mama” and “baby.” “Yuck” is still a favorite.
She’s also got about 12 teeth in that little mouth.
We also need to keep our eye on the kiddo. This weekend when my back was turned she pulled a step stool out, dragged it over to the stove, and made herself at home. Just look at the smile on her face. She’s so proud. I think we’re in trouble…
Annual Bike Race BBQ
This year was the 4th in a row that we’ve hosted a BBQ on Lemon Hill for the annual pro bike tour that comes through Philly. It’s always a great time and the weather this year was perfect.
Sophie had her own chair (thanks Mom Mom!) and cow bell, which she was very enthusiastic about
A guy that Dave works with brought his daughter Paige, who is just a few weeks older than Sophie. Not to worry, there is no beer in that cup.
