Yesterday we had dinner with Rebecca, John & Ava who is 5 months old. Sophie got a kick out of her and I think Ava was pretty entertained too.

And today we went to Bug Fest at the Academy of Natural Sciences.

We had our 20 week check-up and anatomy scan on Thursday and found out we’re expecting another girl! Everything looks good and I’m feeling great. We’re excited to have another girl, and Sophie is semi-excited about the little sister. We’ll work on it… Here are a few pictures.

Next week I’ll be 5 months pregnant, and I realize, this is the first belly picture I’ve taken! (I guess it’s a bit different the second time around). On Thursday we have our appointment to find out the sex. Sophie is hoping for a little brother. We’ll see what we can do about that….

Well, the song is right: No more monkeys jumping on the bed. On Monday night Sophie was jumping on our bed, fell off, and hit her mouth on the bed side table. Her lip was split and her front teeth were missing, so I rushed her to the emergency room. After several x-rays they discovered that her teeth had actually been knocked back up into her gums. She also needed to get 3 stitched in her lip. She was a real trooper through the whole ordeal.  She was out of school all this week and is healing well. Her lip is much better, swelling is going down, and it looks like she won’t need any oral surgery – apparently it’s very likely that the teeth will come back down on their own.

Here she is post-stitches. She just woke up from being sedated.

She was soon on the road to recovery with lots, and lots, of popsicles
And some good friends stopped by to cheer her up – Claire & Liora
And by Sunday her lip was much better and swelling has gone down tremendously. She won’t have front teeth for a while, but now that she’s learned how to eat (“open wide and put it in the side”), she’s a happy girl again!

Two weekends ago we headed down to Virginia for a visit. On Saturday we had a BBQ with some of my high school friends and their kids. Sarah came with Lexi, who is two weeks younger than Sophie. Samantha cam with Darby, who is starting kindergarden next month, and Mary, who is 3. And Aleen came to document it all. The girls had a lot of fun running around and playing with Vahid and Jill (with the parents close behind trying to keep Jill and her nips away from the kids).
Lexi and Sophie had a chance to catch up with each other.

Grandma made the big move into my parent’s house the weekend we visited. She’s set up in my old room, and it looks great. It’s been a tough move for everyone, but she’ll be settled in soon. And of course, Jill is back at home again…

Last weekend we all drove up to Newport, RI to see the America’s World Cup World Series. They were racing right off the land, and Dave really wanted to go see it up close. Sophie and I hung out in the town and visited the racing a few times.

All of the boats.

On the Ferry out to the island where the racing was.

There was a band playing and Sophie took full advantage by dancing her heart out. You can see her in action here.

We are very excited to announce that we are expecting baby #2 in December! My due date is December 27th (for which I’m sure this child will forever resent us). I’m feeling good and just starting to show. Here are a few pics from our 12 week appointment. The 16 week appointment will be next week, and there’s a chance we’ll find out the sex. We’re all very excited, especially Sophie who has been carrying around her toys calling them her new little baby (we’ll see if she’s so gentle with the real thing).

It’s hard to believe, but the school year has almost come to an end! Next week will be the last week of regular school for Sophie, then she heads to Virginia for a week with Nana and PapPap and then she’ll begin the summer program. Here are a few shots that her teachers took from the last month at Greene Towne School.

The primary school recently hatched some chicks and the toddlers got to go up and visit with them. Here’s Sophie looking in with Rachel.

Music circle time. At our last parent/teacher conference they told us that music circle is her favorite activity all week and that she’s actually made up her own dance moves. I think we’ve seen a few of them at home.

On Memorial Day Erin and I took Sophie & Vivian to Sesame Place. It was the first time any of us were there. Despite the scorching hot weather, it was a lot of fun.

Our favorite ride was the teacups (which I think was my favorite ride as a kid too). We got spinning really fast and the girls loved it.

Sophie’s love of trampolines was found on this enormous bouncer. She had a blast, but unfortunately wasn’t allowed to stay in there for too long. We’ll have to get a small trampoline for our house sometime soon.

Not realizing that it was also a water park, I didn’t bring a bathing suit, but it didn’t stop Sophie from jumping in in her clothes (yes, she was that kid). Luckily I did bring a change of clothes. Vivan of course was looking quite the bathing beauty in her suit.

And the only character we got to see was Grover – not Sophie’s favorite, but still worth getting together with for a picture.
