Julia

Sophie had no interest in doing soccer again, but we thought we’d give it a try with Lauren. She’s a pretty coordinated kid and loves to kick a ball around the house. First lesson was a success! She did some dribbling and even scored her first goal.
GOAL!

Lauren has finally gotten the hang of walking! At 13 months, she’s finally getting around on her own two feet. I have some good video of it, but technology is failing me right now, so will post when I can. Below is a good old fashioned still shot of her and Julia, who are become best buddies.

Lauren has been spending her days with Michelle, her nanny, and Julia, our neighbor that she does the nanny share with (and her future best friend). They’re getting bigger and interacting much more. Michelle is great and does a lot of activities with them every day.
Water play is a favorite of Lauren’s. She loves to splash around (I’ll post pics of her in the bath soon)

Here are the future scholars at the library. Julia needs to give Lauren a little instruction on the correct way to hold a book…

Lauren has been getting into a great routine with her new nanny, Michelle, and her new best friend, Julia. Michelle spends one week at our house, and the next at Julias. Julia and her family live about 5 blocks from us, so it’s an easy trip back and forth. As the weather has been getting nicer they’ve been spending a lot more time outside.

Sophie and I spend Fourth of July weekend in Ocean City again this year. The Coughlins and Rainers got an amazing house, and we also celebrated Doug’s 50th birthday!
My cousin Holly and her son, Cameron, came to visit a few days before the 4th. Here Carly was entertaining them with Wheels on the Bus. A Sophie favorite.

Sophie digging in the sand. She loved it. And it got everywhere.

My Pap Pap passed away in June and so that the entire family could say goodbye, the memorial service was held just this past weekend. On Thursday we had a memorial service and reception afterward and on Friday there was a private family burial and then small get together at Nancy & Jim’s house. Although it was a sad occasion, it was also an opportunity to get together with family that we haven’t seen in quite some time. A lot of family members also get to meet Sophie for the first time.
My mom’s stepsister Kelly came with her new baby Pierce. He’s just 3 months old (and obviously very sound asleep!)

My Great Uncle Earl was in love – he was happy to hold Sophie while Dave and I enjoyed visiting with everyone.

We spent part of last week in Newboro, Canada. Brad & Joan have a house there, on a little island. There’s not much to do but fish, read and relax… it’s always the best vacation. Doug, Vick, Quinn, Carley, Julia, Nana, Mom and Dad were all there too (and Finn – Julia’s dog).
Dave, Sophie & I slept out in the little cabin, which is separate from the main house. Here’s she’s enjoying my bed.

Sophie loved hanging out with her second cousins (At least I think that’s what they are to her…). She just can’t get enough of Carley in this picture.

Here’s a shot of the whole group (including Julia who is behind the plant)

Nana brought back this outfit for Sophie from Paris. It’s been too hot in Philly to wear – but it was much cooler in Canada and she was able to sport it before she got too big. Our cute little chicken.
